Apostles' Creed

The Apostles’ Creed is one of the earliest summaries of the Christian faith, taking shape in the life of the early church by around AD 150–200 and used as a baptismal confession. While not written directly by the apostles, it faithfully reflects the core teaching they passed down and preached from Scripture.

The Creed confesses faith in the Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and proclaims the central events of the gospel, including Christ’s incarnation, suffering, death, resurrection, ascension, and future return. It also affirms the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and everlasting life.

For centuries, the Apostles’ Creed has been confessed by Christians as a clear and enduring declaration of the apostolic faith, grounding the church in the historic and universal gospel of Jesus Christ.

Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary;
suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting. Amen.
